For biological parents, adoptive parents, resource parents, and caregivers of children and teens who have experienced early trauma or loss.

This support group will provide parenting tools and techniques to use with children and teens who have had early trauma and continue to struggle with regulation and healthy connection. Each session will have a learning segment, followed by an interactive time to process and problem-solve the unique challenges that each caregiver is experiencing with their child.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is an evidence-based therapeutic model that trains parents and caregivers in attachment-based, trauma-informed interventions to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Connecting Principles for attachment needs, Empowering Principles to address physical and regulation needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors.

We offer three TBRI Series. Though we encourage folks to enroll in all three to build skills progressively, you are welcome to register for any of the three modules. In other words, you could start with Series III in the spring, and later take series I and II. You can register one series at a time, or you can register for more than one in order to hold your spot in a future series.

Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 9:00am – 11:00am, January 28 – March 4, 2025

Series III: Correcting Principles
This series will focus on strategies to help you learn how to correct your child’s behavior while maintaining a strong connection with your child. Proactive Strategies are designed to teach social and behavioral skills. Responsive strategies are designed to aid caregivers in handling challenging behavior.
Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 9:00am – 11:00am, April 15 – May 20, 2025

Costs
Per series: $200.00 individual/$250.00 couple
CareOregon Members: Free – these groups are available to you for free in partnership with CareOregon.
Location: This will be a virtual group, and registrants must reside in Oregon.

AS OF 10/28, SERIES I IS AT FULL CAPACITY—but you can still register for Series II and III!

Here’s what past participants had to say about our TBRI Group (Comments are Anonymous to Protect Participant Privacy):

“I wish I would have taken this 4 years ago when we started getting support from Children’s Program. The skills taught are realistic and they work. It’s worth the investment of time and money.”

“Taking the TBRI Parents Support Series has been life changing for our family. It provides a new lens through which to view my child’s and our behavior, and has made working through some of the trauma-based behavior so much easier. The resources and regulation tools are so valuable.”

“As we have worked to implement strategies that we learned in the TBRI parenting class, we have see a transformation in our relationship with our daughter.”
