Daniel J. Munoz, PhD

Daniel J. Munoz, PhD, Psychologist is a senior clinical psychologist and one of the clinic’s primary assessment specialists, completing over 130 comprehensive psychological evaluations annually. His assessment practice focuses on children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 8–21), with expertise in cognitive and intellectual assessment, ADHD and executive functioning, academic achievement, and complex differential diagnosis. Dr. Munoz also provides evidence-based psychotherapy specializing in gender diverse youth and families and eating and weight disorders, using modalities including Family-Based Treatment (FBT/Maudsley), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Dr. Munoz serves as the Director of Artificial Intelligence Integration, leading the clinic’s initiative to adopt AI tools responsibly across assessment, documentation, and clinical workflows. He also serves as Director of Research, overseeing research infrastructure and methodology and collaborating with doctoral training programs and university partners on active research projects.

Dr. Munoz received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Albany and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago Eating and Weight Disorders Program. Before joining the Children’s Program in 2011, he held faculty appointments at Pacific University and the University of Indianapolis, where he directed graduate research and supervised doctoral students. He is the author of peer-reviewed publications in journals including Obesity Surgery, Eating Disorders: Journal of Treatment and Prevention, and Behavior Modification, and was an invited presenter to the APA DSM-5 Workgroup on Eating Disorders.

Dr. Munoz is a recipient of the Academy of Eating Disorders Early Career Investigator Award for excellence in research and has presented at international conferences in the United States, Canada, Austria, and Spain. He is the past vice-chair of the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners (2012–2015).
